Gaga over Granolas
Granola bars fit in the category of any-time snack. Nutritious, handy and longer shelf-life make this an excellent choice for kids & adults as well.
Granola bars are the sophisticated and much improvised version of our good old "chikkies". Times when chocolates & cookies were not so famous in small towns, chikkies were the only healthy option for kids.
I still reminisce the sweet aroma of melting jaggary and the nutty flavours of roasted peanuts from the kitchen of my grandmaa.
Many variations & versions of granolas are there to adopt, one such simple recipe which I follow goes like this ;
Ingredients :
Method : Boil sugar, oil and honey in a thick-bottom pan over medium heat, till the sugar melts. Put off the flame and add vanilla & cinnammon in it. Roast the oats in a dry pan for 5 minutes stirring continuosly and mix with rice crispy. Pour the liquid mix over the oats and rice crispy and spread the mixture in a shallow pan or a baking tray. Bake it for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees, stirring ocassionally. Add the raisins at the last to avoid burning. Press the mix firmly with the back of a ladle. Let it cool before cutting in squares or bars.
